John Miralles Named Technology Educator of the Year

LSU Shreveport faculty member John Miralles was named the Technology Educator of the Year by the Louisiana Technology Council at the LTC eWARDS Celebration on Thursday, May 17 in Bossier City, La. eWARDS is a celebration of innovation and achievement for those in the State who have made a positive impact in technology over the past year.

Miralles is the Director of the Animation, Visual Effects and Interactive program at LSU Shreveport. Miralles was recently awarded $500,000 by the Caddo Parish Commission to create the Digital Media Certificate Program. The DMC Program is a one-year intensive program that gives students training and rapid access to digital media careers.

After 18 years of service to Louisiana’s ever-growing technology industry, LTC expanded its annual eWARDS to include a four-region tour. Winners in each region will compete for the Governor’s Technology Awards to be held in either late June or early July. Regions participating this year include Shreveport/Bossier, Lafayette, Baton Rouge and New Orleans.
