The Animation & Visual Effects Program at LSU Shreveport and the Cyber Innovation Center hosted the 2nd Annual Animation & Visual Effects Cyber Camp last week. Students and teachers from Caddo Parish Magnet High School, El Dorado High School, Green Oaks Performing Arts Academy, Minden High School, Southwood High School, and West Monroe High School participated in the camp.
Throughout the week, teams of six students and two teachers from each school were immersed in the world of digital media through the study of aviation physics and flight simulation, and competed in challenges using 21st century skills. These challenges included flight simulation video games, aviation physics applied to building model planes, virtual aviation navigation competitions, and remote-controlled helicopter challenges.
The winners were determined by the total of number of points earned by competing in the challenges throughout the week. On the final day of camp, teams made presentations to a panel of judges, including Colonel Keith Tiester, Mr. Jim Malone and Dr. Paul Sisson.
