On Tuesday August 31st, CineSys Inc. of Dallas, Texas and The Foundry visited the AVE program to demonstrate the new features of Mari and NukeX. There was also some discussion about some upcoming software packages including Ocula and Katana. All LSUS students were invited to attend and learn about the new features of these software packages.
Mari is a texture painting application for 3D objects. It was developed with Weta workshop to help integrate the artist into the development process. It is a very powerful tool which allows artist to paint directly onto their 3D models.
The newest features of NukeX demonstrated to the students using a commercial for EuroDisney. The new features of this software will make compositing easier and more convenient to perform.
